Lahti

Lahti offers the services of a large city in the most beautiful setting in Finland. Lahti is the active and evolving centre of the entire region thanks to its clean lakes, verdant eskers, comfortable and spacious residential areas, modern commercial services, well-managed sports facilities and active provision of cultural and recreational opportunities. Nastola is a district of Lahti with a population of 15,000, where beautiful nature and residential areas form a harmonious whole. Nastola’s distinctive characteristics include the eskers of Salpausselkä, forests and many lakes.

Asikkala

The municipality of Asikkala combines a peaceful environment and modern services. The beautiful water landscapes of this people-friendly municipality surrounded by nature is a comfortable place to live for permanent residents as well as the thousands of people who own a holiday home in the area. Vääksy, the municipal centre of Asikkala, was chosen as the best small municipal centre in Finland. It is located between the lakes Vesijärvi and Päijänne. In addition to bodies of water, the landscape is also dominated by eskers. The majority of Vääksy’s residents live spaciously in detached houses near nature. Asikkala has more than 8,000 residents.

Hartola

Hartola is located in an old cultural landscape of the Päijät-Häme region, in the southern parts of the Finnish lake district. As the only kingdom in Finland, Hartola breathes history and the idyll of country life with its old manors. The municipality of Hartola is a safe, comfortable and clean place to live. The services important for residents are available in the village of Hartola, but a wide range of services is also offered by the municipality’s other villages. Hartola boasts a remarkably large number of businesses and jobs. The population of Hartola is just under 3,000.

Hollola

Hollola is one of the largest and most lively rural municipalities in Finland, and it was already known as an administrative area in the 13th century. It is a place where the present and long-standing traditions meet. Hollola lies next to Lahti and is home to almost 24,000 people. Boasting more than 40 lakes, the municipality offers a place to live near nature. Hollola has received praise for its strong, unique villages, magnificent natural recreation sites and wide range of sports services that range from downhill skiing to golf.

Iitti

Iitti is a vibrant and evolving rural centre between Lahti and Kouvola. Its municipal centre, Kausala, is located near main road 12 and an international rail network, making it easy to travel. The journey to Lahti or Kouvola takes only half an hour, and Helsinki is also just over an hour away. Active businesses and diverse commercial services boost the municipality’s vitality. Iitti is home to approximately 7,000 people.

Orimattila

Orimattila is a pleasant rural city of almost 16,000 residents, located at the southern edge of the Päijät-Häme region. It is only an hour away from the Helsinki metropolitan area by car.
Orimattila is developing a new city district called Henna. Henna is located in a top location in the western parts of the municipality, near a road and railway. From Henna, it takes less than 50 minutes to travel to Helsinki and approximately 10 minutes to travel to Lahti via commuter rail line Z.

Padasjoki

This naturally beautiful municipality on the shores of Lake Päijänne is a key harbour on the waterway between Lahti and Jyväskylä, approximately one hour north of Lahti by car. The numerous waters and natural environment offer recreational opportunities, making Padasjoki a popular location for summer cottages. The harbour area attracts residents, holidaymakers and boaters to come and enjoy the harbour’s services and the clean lake water. Padasjoki has a population of approximately 3,000.
