Top research and experts

The Lahti campus of LUT University has Finland’s first professorship and research team in electric transportation. A master’s degree programme in electric transportation systems is being launched in 2022.

European Green Capital

As the European Green Capital of 2021, Lahti invests heavily in sustainable transportation. The majority of the city’s public transport equipment is powered by electricity and renewable fuels.

Testing

KymiRing, the only MotoGP circuit in Northern Europe with an FIA Grade One license, offers a unique year-round environment for varied vehicle testing and driver training.

Green electricity

The electrification of transport requires considerable power generation capacity. Lahti offers green, CO2-neutral electricity.

Carpe GEM!

Transport is undergoing the greatest transformation in a century. Electric transport does not only involve electric cars and batteries. It also constitutes a change in the entire field of energy generation and infrastructure. It involves a variety of alternative power sources that utilise electricity: hydrogen, methane and synthetic fuels. The demand for electricity – and green electricity in particular – is increasing rapidly.

There is huge potential in the market for the green electrification of transport. The Lahti region offers your business the best conditions to take advantage of this potential!
