Wipak moves production from the Netherlands to Nastola in the Lahti region!
50 new jobs will be created in Lahti as the Wipak Health Division, which is a part of the Wipak Group, moves its production from Sittard in the Netherlands to Nastola, Lahti. Wipak Health Division manufactures packaging for medical supplies for hospitals, dental care and laboratories.
Healthcare packaging must be manufactured in cleanrooms, which need a lot of electricity for their powerful ventilation systems. The company decided to move its production to Finland due to severe congestion in the electricity network that prevented further expansion in the Netherlands. For this reason, Wipak has decided to expand its production in the health sector at the Nastola factory.
According to the CEO of Wipak Oy Tomi Ruusunen, the purpose for this move is to ensure sufficient and uninterrupted production for customers. Operations from the Sittard factory will be moved gradually to Nastola. All operations should be moved by the end of 2027.
In Nastola, the production of healthcare packaging will continue in a modern factory, where operations can be expanded immediately. Two years ago, Wipak Oy announced that it would invest in the development of a cleanroom at its Nastola factory. The justification for the reform was precisely the increase in production space.
Currently in Lahti, the production of healthcare packaging sector employs approximately 80 people. When the production is expanded, about 50 more employees will be needed. Tomi Ruusunen believes that suitable employees can be found in the local area.
