Hartola

Hartola is a picturesque municipality of just under 3,000 residents. It is located along Tainionvirta River, well-known for its canoeing and fishing opportunities, and near Lake Jääsjärvi, which has businesses such as Hartola Golf along its shores. The history of the ‘kingdom’ of Hartola dates back to 1784, when King Gustav III of Sweden proclaimed Hartola to be a sovereign royal parish. Hartola is also home to Ski Centre Purnu, which is located on the slopes of Purnuvuori Hill.

In autumn, Hartola hosts Finland’s largest farmer’s market event and offers interesting cultural and leisure activities for residents and tourists.

Hartola boasts approximately 300 businesses and an active business scene. The largest businesses are Versowood, Lehto Group and Esperi Care. An interesting new business that has found a home in Hartola is Potential Foods, which manufactures Nosht sports nutrition products.
